The second-hand marketplace Members Share Displeasure Regarding Size Modifications
Shoppers are voicing their frustration after an update resulted in products showing incorrect sizing.
This online marketplace has revised its sizing categories for women's and children's garments failing to inform all shoppers about the modification.
Digital Channels Response
Many shoppers and sellers are expressing on platforms saying Vinted listings now show a different size category compared to what was initially listed due to the recalibration.
Vinted explained the new system was more in line with comparable marketplaces.
They have suggested members to examine their items and update the measurements by hand when needed, causing user dissatisfaction.
Measurement Approach Modifications
Earlier, the sizes had both a single numeric size and a letter, such as S/8 or M/10.
The updated approach includes an alphabetical indicator and numerical range for example S/UK 8-10.
In some cases, the measurements have been reclassified - for example a size L was formerly size 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.
Member Experiences
Frankie Bridger, who produces content about larger sizing, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".
"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.
A different member, from Glasgow, stated items she posted on Vinted with size 14 labels were showing in the marketplace as measurements 20-22.
"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they will likely be quite upset," she explained.
Manual Updates
Another shopper, based in Derby, explained she became annoyed due to the update requiring manual adjustment the measurements for "each individual item".
"This situation is especially annoying, as I'm chronically ill and selling on Vinted has been paramount following partial earnings loss," she said.
Marketplace Information
The service features exceeding 100 million shoppers, with 18 million British users.
It has become a favored option compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.
This represents another occasion that an unexpected update within the service has received backlash: previously, Vinted reversed a change to its shipping options following member complaints.
